Mura Masa is a producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from the Channel Islands. After a childhood learning guitar, piano, drums and writing with local bands, he turned his hand to production. With cues from acts such as Hudson Mohawke, James Blake and Cashmere Cat, he began uploading tracks to Soundcloud produced in his small bedroom on the coast of Guernsey. He quickly gathered a loyal online fan base and, at only 18 years old, he sold out his first London show and released his debut mixtape "Soundtrack to A Death", which was picked up by Zane Lowe, Annie Mac & Huw Stephens.
His first official EP "Someday Somewhere", released in 2015 on his own Anchor Point label, gained further support at Radio 1, with lead track 'Firefly' picking up an In New Music We Trust playlist and an invitation to play his first Maida Vale session. The growing buzz around Mura Masa saw him booked for a series of festivals including Pitch, Lowlands, Splash, Pitchfork and Catch. He also recently announced his next headline at the 800-capacity Village Underground in London's Shoreditch.
Mura Masa's music combines electronic production and club culture with the rustic/organic sounds and timbres of traditional sample beat making. Where others use the same samples and patterns he always tries to create soundscapes that are unique and challenging. His efforts will culminate in a debut album, due summer 2016.
