Novo Amor, alias Welsh multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer Ali Lacey, releases his new EP ‘Bathing Beach’ via Believe Recordings on May 26th. Listen to lead track ‘Carry On’ here. EP pre-order here.
Hailing from deep in the Welsh mountains, Novo Amor’s music is beautiful, melancholic and liable to transport the listener to another realm. Lacey’s emotive vocals and the sounds he uses, often formed through sonic experimentation, make for fantastically atmospheric songs that are both moving and striking.
The ‘Bathing Beach’ EP is Lacey’s second EP, following his widely lauded debut ‘Woodgate, NY’ EP. His debut album will follow in due course.
On May 16th Novo Amor will play his first London show in several years at Hoxton Hall, which will be preceded by shows in Holland in April.
Here’s Ali’s explanation of the thinking behind the EP and the songs contained within; "The idea to title the EP ‘Bathing Beach’ comes from an illustrated postcard of a shore in New York State, a place that was my home for a summer back in 2011. For me, Bathing Beach exerts a calmness that was present during my time there; the idea of it being a place where the land meets the water almost feels like the perfect place to let something go, or set something free. The sentiment is mirrored in the video for ‘Anchor' and is a recurring theme throughout the four songs.
