Sundahl is a sandpaper voice to thaw the frozen heart. His words – At times quietly muttered, at other times roared – are stuff for closer listening. And closer still. You get the point.
This Ghent-based adept of Tom Waits and Alan Lomax is usually backed up by the illustrious trio Serge Hertoge (guitar), Lander De Vreese (drums) and Tuur Geldhof (bass). Together they play bluesrock and indiefolk free of pretention.
Their sound is characterized by simplicity and feeling and resides somewhere between The Tallest Man Alive, Daniel Norgren, Andy Shauf and Chris Whitley.
“Singer-songwriter Sundahl is often called the Nick Drake of Ghent.”
