Timo van Grinsven - Automagisch
Timo van Grinsven's exhibition at Le Botanique is organised in collaboration with Eeckman Art & Insurance as part of Brussels Drawing Week and Art On Paper 2019.
For the past 5 years, Brussels-based organization Art on Paper has been offering the general public, collectors and art professionals the opportunity to take an interest in the diversity of contemporary approaches to drawing during an international exhibition dedicated to this practice.
In order to give a broader account of the vitality of contemporary creation, Art on Paper is launching the Brussels Drawing Week in 2019. Designed in dialogue with more than 20 leading Brussels institutions, centers or art schools, Brussels Drawing Week offers a rich and varied programme. This one-week event will allow the public to discover contemporary drawing and to explore its many aspects through various events such as artists' meetings, guided tours, openings or exhibition finishes, installations or even conference or performance sessions.
For the past 4 years, Art & Insurance Eeckman has supported the Art On Paper Fair and awarded the EECKMAN ART PRIZE to encourage young and emerging artists. It is in this context that Le Botanique joins Art & Insurance Eeckman to organize, with the winning artist 2019, an exhibition week during Brussels Drawing Week.
Timo van Grinsven's exhibition, Automagisch, will be held in the Galerie du Botanique from October 22nd to October 27th 2019. The jury selected in particular the open, humorous and unconventional attitude with which the artist approaches his drawing practice. It encompasses a multitude of forms and materials, of which design is always the foundation. The artist is inspired by a vast range of visual references captured in drawings using a clear line. His work follows his own logic, hardly imitable and described by the artist as a "directed coincidence" in which a balance is always found between image and language, idea and tactility.
